Welcome to marysunshyn.com!    This site is a work-in-progress, much like life itself.    It's a place to tell you about me, my business, my family and my friends.      :)

First, a little bit about me... 

I've always been Mary, but several years ago, the sun came out, so to speak, when a friend and I were working on a community project.  There were two Mary's working together, and she needed a way to set me apart.  That's when the "Sunshyn" was added to my name.  It stuck, and now lots and lots of people know me as Mary Sunshyn, or sometimes even just as Sunshyn.

I'm born and raised and living in Central Illinois, married to a great guy, and have 4 great step-children.   

I'm always busy with some sort of activity or project - you might find me designing jewelry, making fun and unique greeting cards, working on a new Festival of Trees or Holiday idea, cheering on the kids at a school event, or even dancing a highland fling.  There's rarely a moment when you'll find me just sitting still.    


...then a little bit about my business...

Several years ago, I started Designs By Mary, selling unique, handcrafted jewelry using quality sterling silver, crystal, glass and natural bead components.  I especially like to create jewelry using keepsake memento beads because they have such special meaning. 
 
I aso create unique, handcrafted greeting cards and fun, quirky "stuff" for home and garden.  


...a little bit about my family...

I am one of 6 kids, though I sort of grew up as an only child, with 14 years between the youngest of my siblings and me. 

I was a sworn single girl until 2006, when circumstance brought me together with the Wonderful Waughs.  

In July of 2006, I started dating my handsome husband, Charlie.  He and his 4 children almost immediately took me in as part of the family, and in August of 2007 we made it official. 

There's Matt, living in Portland, and Kathryn, Sarah, and Jack, living in Central Illinois with us.  Together, we make up the Wonderful Waughs.


...and, finally, a little bit about my friends... 

There's a real fuzzy line here.  It's hard for me to distinguish between friends and family sometimes.  My friends have often been my family, supporting me in hard times, and celebrating with me in good ones.
